This propulsive story is set in the elite Seattle tech industry and revolves around Jake Sarano, but it’s not about him. Jake is the type of man that collects women. When he’s in a relationship he’s never all in, and when they end they lack closure. As Jake plans to take his tech company public three women’s lives collide. His ex wife Anna, his college girlfriend Samantha, and his new wife Jessica. The trauma that brings them together brings long buried secrets to the surface as the three women become an unlikely support to one another.
Dunlop does a fantastic job weaving the story in such a way that I found myself relating to each of these women on some level. Although the setting is well crafted to the tech industry the inequalities, the emotions, are universal and happen in big and small ways everywhere.
I recommend for those that enjoy stories with strong women characters and propulsive storytelling. I think it’s especially well suited for buddy reads and bookclubs as there’s so much to discuss!

The best description for this book in 10 words or less:
"Woman meets extended family and gets sucked into their problems."

When I was reading the description of this novel, it seemed really interesting. Who wouldn't want to read a novel about a small-town girl who had a family that was powerful and popular in the big city? It had a pauper to prince kind of feel to it as the main character, Laila, has never known the lavish New York City life that her cousins live.

I felt like this novel fell short of what it could have been. I really struggled to finish this novel, but I persevered so that I can give you an honest review.

The drama in the novel seemed super superficial, and you can see the dark path that Laila goes down just by being associated with her extended family. I feel like that was a realistic depiction of what fame and money can do to someone. Since I have been to New York City, I know there is so much you can do there, but the lack of setting made it difficult to focus since it made the novel seem so bland. I've read similar novels that were far more entertaining and better written than She Regrets Nothing.

Solid 3.5 stars. I’ve been in somewhat of a reading slump and picked this book solely because, in order of date added, it was the oldest book on my kindle. I was so anxious to know what the big dramatic event was, I felt myself rushing through it. I’ve always dreamed of going to the airport and buying a ticker somewhere in the world with barely anything but the clothes on my back. Maybe one day.
