I was at first optomistic about this GRE prep book, however, after finishing it, I feel there were a few problems with it. While it is true that it has 8 practise tests (which is great) its method of training seems to be primarily to blugeon students to death with trite information. It does offer a few good test taking tips...the section on logic is absolutely great. And I do like the stress on practising, as that to is good advice. However, the english and math review sections appear at the end, when they should appear very early on. While some of the material therein is helpful, they are basically trying to condence years worth of schooling into roughly 100 pages. Its not enough and the wrong way to go about it. The essay section left me frustrated to as there was on sample essay on what is a hot political topic right now All essays were presented with three examples, a great essay, a good essay, and a bad essay...so of course, most essays had answers for the pro or con position pretty evenly situated (i.e. if con is great, pro is good, and the last con is bad, so it balanced nicely). however, on the hotest most politcal issue presented, they presented a great con essay, a good con essay, and a bad con essay. that combined with the way students were more or less told they better just know the material or they were screwed left me fairly exasperated. while it is true that knowing the material is important, there are strategies to overcoming the GRE as well. So overall, it did have some descent matterial, but i would recomend this as one of the last picks on gettting ready.… (más)
