Violet shares her whole life online in a vlog on YouTube. There's nothing in her life that she doesn't share..her home, her kids, her husband and her whereabouts when shes not vlogging.

The only problem with putting yourself out there are the chances that there are psychos and people that might have a reason to hurt you. Especially when your loving husband has been being naughty and upset one of your followers. Putting yourself out there without any restrictions makes it easy for one of these psychos to maybe seek revenge for things you might not even be aware of. Violet is learning this but unfortunately there was a very heavy price that was made.

Could not put it down! From the first pages, you're plunged into the worlds of complex characters with dark secrets. Throughout the entire story, the twists and turns keep you guessing and it isn't until the very end do you get the full picture. Violet is a social media queen, advocating for moms who do it all while battling postnatal depression. One morning, all her platforms are black, no Instagram, no YouTube, nothing, she disappears. Followers are confused and skeptical, worried, and alarmed. Some go to extreme lengths to solve the mystery of the missing influencer, while others are more involved with the disappearance than they're letting on. Unfollow Me highlights the harsh nature of the comparisons mothers make to the unrealistic images they consume online.… (más)

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

In many ways this was cleverly written: both Faye and Rachel were unreliable narrators of their own stories, at least to each other; and the way the narrative moved between present day and one year ago, gradually revealing more of Faye's past, was effective. I found Rachel's backstory more compelling than that of Faye, but I didn't warm to either character, which made for a less enjoyable read. It felt quite repetitive too - Faye rehashed the same feelings and emotions over and over again, and was so wilfully naive and deluded that I struggled to sympathize with her. There were quite a lot of 'shocking revelations', and you had to take a few things (that such an app would exist, that this was Louis' best solution to his childlessness etc) as givens.

The conclusion was good, although the final detail about Louis' business dealings came out of nowhere and didn't add anything. I was glad to get to the end.… (más)
