I wish I had found this book in my first year of uni! Alas, I found it towards the end. Unlike most "college manuals" this one only has a very short section on studying. What is so amazing about it is that it takes a lot of really complicated issues you may encounter: not in depth, barely a chapter per issue, but there are few books that explain living, helping friends through difficulties, nutrition, gynecology, STDs, harassment... While there is only a few pages for most topics (though they do make suggestions of where to get help), I have never seen a college manual that tackles so many of the issues you might encounter aside from this book. I wish I had had somewhere to start with on so many problems I encountered. I really think it is better to have so much information at your finger-tips for when you do encounter a situation, so you are not left hanging. It is a definite buy!

Warning: This book is left-wing (centralist to liberal), particularly regarding issues of pro-choice (alternatives to abortion, such as carrying to term and adoption, are discussed), safe sex (abstinence is brought up as a method), orientation, etc. If you are not left-wing, you could easily skip those chapters. However, I know there are some who would just get angry regarding the content, so you should just stay away.… (más)
