Biografía breve
Lucienne Diver is a literary agent by day, a writer and journeyman jeweler by night. She started writing in her teens because talking back to the voices in her head wasn't socially acceptable—and she already had enough to deal with being a drama and AP English geek.
Her credits include short stories and a romantic comedy written under the pseudonym Kit Daniels. With her young adult novel Vamped, she's taking off the mask and stepping into the full glare of ... indirect sunlight. Because as her heroine would tell you, anything else is hazardous to your health, especially once you've been Vamped.

Battle for the Blood by Lucienne Diver
Book #4 of the Latter-Day Olympians series. Urban fantasy, mythology in modern day. Should be read in series order.
Dragons, demons, gods and gorgans. Will the world survive now that the paranormal is no longer secret and the fight for supremacy is deadly?

This story opens with Tori and Apollo waking up after a night of sex in his hotel room immediately after the end of the previous book. Tori has wings now and has a lot to figure out. She compares the wings to John Travolta in the movie Michael. Tori has to save the world. Of course. The battle against the zombies is too close to home and on top of the zombies, she needs to help Nick.
A strong heroine fights to save the world against battling gods and zombies. Quite the combination. She does have to reconcile where her relationships are and what needs to be done. It’s a complex world with many layers and twists (zombies?) that centers around Tori though you’d think it should be Apollo.
I can’t imagine what comes next since there is one more book in the series. It’s definitely in my tbr because I need to know where this goes.

Bad Blood by Lucienne Diver
Updated 2nd read by audiobook.
The Greek Gods walk among the Hollywood rich and famous.
Toni Karacis is a PI drawn into a war between the Gods when she witnesses the murder of one of them. Suddenly all the stories she's heard from her grandmother are taking on a life of their own and those gods are interfering and threatening her own life.

Entertaining writing style with humor and rich language. Quite a list of characters from the Greek myths, many of which I didn't know. I don't think I missed anything but the humor may have been higher if my history of these gods wasn't lacking.
First in a series. I will be buying and reading the next to see what happens with this PI and her world.

Excerpt:
"I couldn't help myself. "You're just in time. Detective Armani was about to break out the rubber hoses."
Lau finally deigned to look my way, but couldn't be moved to put on an expression, let alone respond. Damn, I wanted to rattle her cage. This whole more stoic than thou thing-- and hello, I wasn't even in competition-- freaked me out. Of course, that might've been why she did it.
Armani gave me a quelling look, but I'd had years of Yiayia's evil eye to draw on. I was nigh unquellable."
Excerpt from Bad Blood by Lucienne Diver

I won this book in a contest at a readers conference.

🎧 I listened to this book for the second time for a bookclub and author chat. The audiobook was narrated by Courtney Holly who did a wonderful job with the dry wit and exasperation of Toni. The performance made the story compelling and engaging and almost as if I could turn on the TV and see one of these famous Gods as a Hollywood actor. I listened at 1.2. I could have sped it up a bit but was immersed enough that I didn’t even think about the speed until after I was done.

Disappeared by Lucienne Diver

Intense. Tension building throughout.
YA mystery thriller with deep, mature themes. Alternating points of view of the brother and sister, Jared and Emily.

They are each under such pressure. Jared feels he needs to find out what happened to his mother and protect Emily at all costs. Emily feels she needs to be the peacemaker but without her mother, everyone is on edge. Why did their mother leave them? Emily turns inward to manage her pain.

To avoid spoilers, I don’t want to say too much more but this story has heart, pain and solid family love. Tears and relief.
I hesitated to add the YA because the issues faced were more than that but Jared and Emily are teens so it was necessary to include.
I will recommend this to anyone that likes a good thriller.

The Countdown Club by Lucienne Diver

Rayna, Jack, and Maria receive death threats in school. Rayna asks her best friend Evan to investigate. Soon they and the rest of The Meddlers are racing the clock to try to figure out who is behind the threats and prevent anyone else from dying.

Young adult murder mystery.
Reads intense. Loved the ending. Great cop in Stiles.

Jack. He has a lot to deal with. Physically abusive father, drunk and passed out mother, plus very sick younger brother. Now a death threat for him and Maria add more worries to his young burdened life. He plays the tough guy at school. He plays the hero in trying to protect Maria. She sees past his gruff attitude to the hero beneath.
I envision Jack going far after this. Strong, smart and good at heart.

Rayna. Twit. Sure, she’s compassionate and doesn’t want others hurt on her behalf. But when she’s grounded, for her own safety, she sneaks out of the house. Twice! Movie cliche. The only saving grace was her calling Evan to go with her. TG or we could have been left with one less hero to save the day.
