This book really made me contemplate my relationship with Jesus. It had a lot of advice that helped me understand who we are in Christ.
This book might seem intimidating to those of us who are not gardeners, (me included) but it was very easy to understand. The gardening concepts were explained in a short summary at the beginning of each part of the book, three total. There were a lot of stories to help the reader grasp the concept that was being discussed.
One thing that might bother some people was that there were two different Bible translations referenced in a single paragraph a number of times. (the Message and the New Living Translation)
This is a book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a deeper relationship with Christ.

Katharina and Martin Luther: The Radical Marriage of a Runaway Nun and a Renegade Monk by Michelle DeRusha was written for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Only a few letters that Katharina wrote have survived, but Luther wrote much in his letters and in his works especially Table Talk. This is a well researched book that contains the story of Luther and Katharina, but also contains many of the customs, family life and historical details of the Reformation period. The couple faced many people who opposed their marriage and Katharina was harassed because of it, but their marriage was a blessing to all of us. Besides these details, this book contains a number of black a white illustrations. This fascinating book can be found on the library shelves under the number B/LUT.… (más)

While most of the selections are women most Christians admire, a few make you scratch your head and ask why she included them--even after she explained her reasoning. A couple of the included women were not Christians; therefore, they cannot be a "heroine of the faith." The author included information on each women, but in some cases, her story mostly came from a single source. In other cases, she drew from varied sources. Some selections interested me more than others. I read two sketches per day most days until I finished the book. I did not want to draw it out 50 days. I found that to be a good pace.… (más)

Against all odds, the unlikely union of a runaway nun and a renegade monk works, over time, blossoming into the tenderest of love stories. This biography tells the story of two remarkable people and their extraordinary relationship and illustrates the Luther’s profound impact on the institution of marriage.
