I was attracted to this book due to the famous last name of its author. Bernard Darwin was in fact the grandson of Charles Darwin. However, having been born in 1876, Bernard has but very dim memories of his aging ancestor (Charles died in 1882). Nevertheless, he was bought up at Down House, and remembers his grandmother, and his father and uncles (Charles' sons). These aspects are mentioned in the first couple of chapters of this autobiography, though with no aspects of general interest.

Bernard Darwin gained fame as an amateur golfer and writer on that sport. His page at Wikipedia summarizes his life and career. Having no interest in golf, I did not see fit to complete the reading of this book about his life.

Scholars and other readers seeking nuggets of information about Charles Darwin must look elsewhere; this work does not qualify was Darwiniana.
