KISS OF A STRANGER:
Wow…what a WONDERFUL story! I loved the location, characters, dialogue, and story – I can think of nothing negatives to comment on at all! What a seamless story that builds in intensity and strength – I could not stop once I began reading!
Gabe is an ex-con with revenge and clearing his name on his mind when he enters Lost Coast Harbor. One of the first people he meets is Maddie and there is chemistry between them from the very beginning. Maddie has a past that has led her to err on the side of caution rather than take risks and Gabe seems like a big risk to her in so very many ways. Their relationship grows steadily and strengthens as situations appear and then are dealt with. Maddie’s friends are interesting and will no doubt be in future books of the series – I certainly hope so anyway.
Gabe…what a hunk and sweetie and sort of damaged and a skilled lover and expecting so little from others and yet he has so much to give. Maddie…what a strong woman willing to be there for her friends and ultimately do what is right…and hot for Gabe although he goes completely against her five year plan for the future.
Again…WOW…I loved this book and would give it more than five stars if I could!
Lost Coast Harbor is a place I would love to visit! It is a small town with a lot more going on below the surface than expected. The mystery about just what is going on and who is involved with the criminals is explored a bit more in this novel as Erin Grady and Will Patton meet and get to know one another.
Erin is an emergency room nurse who knows her stuff and applies it inside and outside the hospital. She is competent, unflappable and very skilled. She has not had an easy childhood but it has increased her independence, resilience and nurturing personality. When Will literally falls at her feet while she is jogging she snaps into ER nurse mode and gets him taken care of… while also scoping him out a bit.
As the story progresses so does the federal investigation of Lost Coast Harbor. Who is corrupt? How to find them? Who to trust? What does the future hold in store for Erin and Will AND will it be what they both had hopes for at the beginning of the story.
Good…really, really, REALLY good!
Declan and Annabelle – WOW - they are so much more than what they appeared to be on the surface! Peeling away the layers of who they had been, currently appeared to be and could be in the future was an adventure that I could not put down!
Declan, one of the devilish Donnelly family is the black sheep for a charming and different reason. Why? He has chosen a straight, narrow and very controlled path in an effort to avoid all that the rest of his family is known to be. Annabelle is a phenomenal baker and liked by all but carrying a burden that keeps her from being the carefree woman she remembers once being. There is definitely attraction between them that has simmered since they met three years before. What happens in this book brings the simmer to a boil with a very interesting outcome. Pure dynamite!

Anything You Can Do by Lily Danes
Camp Firefly #16

The song with the book’s title popped into my mind as soon as I read it – did you know the lyrics were written by Irving Berlin for the Broadway play “Annie Get Your Gun”? I remember seeing and hearing it but had forgotten exactly where it originated. I just watched a few versions of it on YouTube and that was fun – especially with Hugh Jackman and Neil Patrick Harris…Anyway…this is not a musical but it is as much fun and just as entertaining :)

Emma is bridesmaid for her friend Ruby and Max is best man for Josh at the wedding that took place at Camp Firefly. Both Ruby and Josh want to save their best friends from heartache and heartbreak so warn their attendants to stay away from one another. They were just looking out for their besties BUT Emma and Max are attracted to one another so…will they listen to the advice they have been given or not? Both are surprised the next day to find out that they will be spending a week at Camp Firefly competing against one another trying to prove whether the men’s team or the women’s team are best at various scout-based activities. Well, a week is plenty of time for them to begin wondering if there might be a future for them together even if they live a great distance from one another. Will they opt for some fun times at camp? Will they listen to the advice of their friends? Or, will they listen to their hearts?

This story was filled with fun events, entertaining situations, some steam, some soul searching, sharing, caring and it proved to be a very enjoyable escape for me this summer day. It took me back, in some ways, to summer camps I once attended as a camper and a counsellor…and the fun times I had long ago :)

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Oh…can’t get the song out of my head now ;)

4-5 Stars

What an intriguing idea for a book series! A camp that varies in focus during the year and where anything can happen is just the place both Ruby and Josh needed to be for a week in order to move on with their lives.

Ruby has been going through a very rough patch. Her life was turned upside down when her source of income disappeared and as a result of all that happened she ended up questioning herself in more ways than one. Dragged off to camp by her friend she believes she might be ready for a no-strings-attached fling before moving on to the next phase of her life.

Josh has fallen into the rut of doing what he thought he always would but for some reason he is not 100% satisfied with being in the rut that once made his father so very happy. His friend offers to sneak him in for events at Camp Firefly and since he kind of likes the idea of one last fling before settling more deeply into his rut he shows up the first socializer.

Ruby and Josh hit it off from the beginning but with only a week together really do not expect much but a whole lot of sizzle and without the prospect of any deep relationship forming…but…perhaps they are wrong in their expectations…

Thank you to the author for the copy of this story in exchange for my honest review.

Intense, intriguing and intrinsically wonderful – this is a winning story in every way!

I loved the story of Bree and Marcus! Both are grownup geek nerds that are attracted to one another and given second chance at love. The question is whether or not they will be able to open up enough to one another, listen and actually hear what the is being said so that they can create a future together.

In addition to the romance there is a mystery to solve, secrets to share, growth to be made and an eventual HEA that made me oh so very happy. I can’t wait to read the next book and look forward to finding out who will have their story told next. Lost Coast Harbor is a place I think I could be very very happy!
