This is a thoughtful, well-organized book with absolutely awful pictures.

Dana and Turner have written an extremely helpful buyer's guide. I watch double my share of HG-TV, yet I had a lot to learn here. They explain the 'staging' concept, explain how to price your home and set a staging budget. Then they give practical, step by step instructions on how to ready your home for sale. And how to turn it into a marketable 'house' rather than your family's 'home.'

There's a room-by-room analysis which explains staging goals for that room, which rooms are most important to buyers, and where your staging dollars should be spent.

But the black and white pictures are so blurry that I kept wondering if I was suffering from eye strain as I tried to look at them. Plus, they all too often do not illustrate the authors' point. The publisher's low budget for photography lowers a five star book to four stars.

I more than got my money's worth from 'Staging Your Home to Sell' but I wish it had a better title (when has 'idiot' been a selling point?). And if there's a new edition, it needs better photos.… (más)

I've been around this kind of stuff my whole life. My grandfather was a home builder, my mom is a real estate agent, I moved a million times as a kid, and I managed a builder's office for a year out of college. I always hear people talk about "staging" and wondered what it was. This is a good beginner's guide, and will hopefully give some ideas to sellers to help them in this slowing market. It had some things I hadn't heard on HGTV before, and some were more detailed instructions on following through with ideas I've seen on tv.… (más)
