Jacques Damase (1930–2014)

A small, hardbound book, probably part of an artistic exhibition. I picked this book up in England at a Museum, and I believe it was a small run, as I've never seen it for sale again. The book is 108 pages long, and is primarily in English with a dual language cover - English and French. The book has the following pages of text: Hebraic Signs, Calligraphies & Typographies, The Manuscript, The Incandescent Alphabet, Garlands and Interlacings, The Ballet of Creation, The Great olds of the Universe, A Mystical Mathmatics, The Oral Torah, On the wandering codex, Hebraic micrography (Leila Avrin), The hebraic letters and their meaning (Colette Sirat), Manuscript Printed Books, Definitions and a List of Illustrations.

The illustrations are taken from other famous Hebraic manuscripts and are indexed. As a small hardback (9" x 5"), this book cuts out individual illustrations for study, and presents entire Manuscripts in a tiny format - too small for study.

As a stand-alone book, I would not recommend this book to someone starting to collect information on Hebraic Manuscripts or as a source of study. But I would recommend this book as an addition to an already well-stocked library studying Hebraic Manuscripts and Calligraphy as another source of information.… (más)
