Portions of this book felt like they belonged in a different medium, as a memoir or podcast.
MK Czerwiec has been writing comics for years under the moniker the Comic Nurse and helps run the Graphic Medicine website. Here, she collects 26 pieces from a variety of perspectives (including genderqueer and a trans man) that illustrate, celebrate, commiserate the experiences of going through menopause. Some was really uplifting, other parts not so much. I didn't always relate, but when I did it was nice to get affirmation of my own experience. I enjoy seeing a subject that's been taboo or the butt of jokes be so celebrated. It won the Eisner award in 2021 for best anthology and one of the comics won for "Best Short Story" as well.… (más)
One of the best graphic memoirs I've read this year. So poignant.
