A note at the beginning of this suggests that this may originally have been a play that was novelised by Robert Curtis and I can see where this dialogue heavy story would suggest that. Jacqueline Smith has inherited a considerable amount of money and when 'Colonel' Alec Lutman discovers this during a visit to his, warped by situations, lawyer Charles Stuckley, Lutman hatches a plan to seperate Jacqueline from her money using the attractive Jim Asson.

Jacqueline is living with her mother from hotel to hotel, only leaving when money, and the hoteliers patience, runs out. She hates this life and wants out, and maybe Jim Asson is a good path. However Charles is less and less cdonvinced of this.

It reads like a comedy farce with fairly stock characters, Jacqueline is quite a lot of fun and really does know her own mind. I enjoyed the read.
