I found this book while looking for a Vietnamese history of the Vietnam War - following the Ken Burns documentary. Of course there wasn't one war and isn't one history but this isn't a bad place to start. The book is repetitive and suffers when dependent on Giap as a source - a hagiography of a pedant. When the author combines sources the narrative is richer.

This book reads better as a revolutionary history than a military one.
