Verda Cross

This story was about a Great Grandmother telling a story to her grand children about when she was a kid and her mom and dad had a farm and they would have a day called threshing day and what would happen on that day. She told then about how the men would work with the hay and the women would be in the kitchen cooking food for the men to eat on their break. She also told about her and her brother and how they help their mother out in the kitchen. At the end of the story she told about how at the end of the day they would take their baths outside in a washtub and then say their prayer and go to bed.
I couldn't really relate to this story because I never had a farm to see all of that, but it sound like it would be exciting for children to see.
I am sure that if I had this in my classroom that some of the children could relate to this story and that it could really happen in some of their families. A teacher should read this book to her classroom to let them know that this is a way of living for some.… (más)
