Each piece has instructions like this for Good King Wenceslas: "Find and circle the 4ths in this piece. What does a 4th sound like? Can you sing the two notes of a 4th?" By the third piece in the book, students are reading a single melody line with both hands on one staff - stems up for RH and stems down for LH - great for overcoming that C-position rut.
