At seventeen, Livy James realized long ago that her childhood was anything but normal. The only child of Paul James, lead singer of the band the Babydolls, and Anna James, one of the band's former backup singers, Livy spent most of her younger years surrounded by music, drugs, and alcohol. Now she's working for the magazine Rock On, following the Babydolls around the country and writing pieces for all the world to read.

The Babydolls are all older, but thanks to one of their songs being played in a hit movie, they're now on an International Tour along with The Wolves, their opening act. Everyone's there--dad Paul, who is currently drug-free and sober; her father's bodyguard/driver Toby Quinn, who has always been more of a father to Livy than Paul; lead guitar player Greg Essex, who still downs Jack Daniel's like it was water and who also happens to be her mother's ex-boyfriend; womanizer Steve Zane; and the band's drummer, Charlie, who is still in love with ex-wife number three.

Livy's mother is along for the ride, too, of course, along with Livy's own best friend, Cammie. As Cammie sets out to bed Steve Zane to complete Operation V, things become a little more complicated when the girls meet Nick and Kai, the lead members of The Wolves. Livy has always sworn to herself that she would never get involved with a musician of any type, but Nick is proving a worthy adversary to her self-made rule.

Add to the mix the infamous "Night In Paris", a night several years ago when the band disintegrated after Greg pulled a gun on Paul, and the tour becomes a veritable circus. As Livy seeks to uncover the truth about what happened all those years ago, she learns a few things about herself along the way--namely, that love has no boundaries, that parents are tricky creatures with their own hurts, wants, and needs, and that truth is subjective.

I loved ROCK MY WORLD! At times funny, poignant, and downright sad, it's the story of learning to be your own person, that truth isn't black or white, and that love comes at the most unexpected times.

Lulu's Rule of Poker #2 states: Don't bet what you can't afford to lose.

Dack thinks he can play poker. Lulu knows he can't because every time they play strip poker with her friend Angie, they always stop the game with Dack in his boxers. When Lulu goes to her dad's for the weekend, she gets a panicked phone call from Dack. He played poker with some other rich boys from the neighborhood, and now he's lost a prized possession.

Lulu, a poker goddess, agrees to play the winner in a rematch. When she arrives, she notices something a little strange about the other players, but nothing too out of the ordinary. She cleans house, taking back Dack's watch. Both friends think this is the end of the story; however it's only the beginning.

Soon, Lulu's in hot water--with her dad, her mom, and maybe her new stepfather, who just happens to be the mayor. Can she fix things before they get way out of hand?

THE POKER DIARIES feature rules of poker, a poker glossary, and rules for certain games. This novel is for anyone who loves poker, helping friends out of tough places, and for those just looking for a fun read.

Lucy Hellenberg lives a somewhat a-typical high school life. Her sixteenth birthday is approaching, but she's not too concerned with it. What bothers her is her father's inability to leave their house, a place that bears a strong resemblance to the one the Munsters of television fame lived in. She worries about whether or not Vic, her sometime-boyfriend, will ask her to the Homecoming Dance. She wonders if she'll ever survive algebra with a teacher like Mrs. Ruthen, otherwise known around Pacific Cedar High as Mrs. Ruthless.

To top it all off, her English teacher, Mr. Dobbs, has stared a unit on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Which might have been only mildly interesting (hey, it sure beat Beowulf or Shakespeare!) except for the very, very, very weird coincidences between Dracula and Lucy's own life. Like the fact that two of the main characters of the book are Lucy and Mina, and that Lucy's best friend just so happens to be named Mina. Like the fact that Henry Irving, an actor managed my Stoker back in the late 1800's, shares the same last name as Lucy's on-again, off-again boyfriend, Vic. Like that fact that, on her sixteenth birthday, Lucy's father presents her a journal passed down through her mother's family that lets her in on the little secret that Lucy is now destined to fight Dracula, the most powerful vampire of all.

Of course Lucy assumes her dad has went off the deep end, until she starts reading the journal and reads about her lineage. Suddenly, she can see vampires--real, live, blood-sucking vampires--everywhere she goes. And she knows it's up to her--along with the help of Mina, Mr. Dobbs, her father, her other best friend Mark, a cat named Professor V., a godfather who makes garlic perfume, and a boy named Christopher with a pet wolf named Kayla--to stop Dracula before he kills them all.

HIGH SCHOOL BITES is a great book! Full of action-adventure, interesting vampire trivia, and main characters that will have you rooting for them, I definitely hope there's another book in THE LUCY CHRONICLES!

Lucy thinks all is normal (well, except for her hermit dad) until her 16th birthday, when she learns she’s a direct descendant of the real ‘Lucy’ from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and that the real Dracula is still hunting ‘Lucys’. Interesting take on the Dracula story, though it is a little too childish, but the current Van Helsing, a tall, dark and handsome 19-year-old, is hot… I’ll probably read the sequel.
