Eva Stewart runs a B&B in the Florida Keys and hosts a murder mystery book club. When a man's body is found in the alley behind her house, Eva and the rest of the club find themselves investigating a real mystery.

Eva has a "secret past" and an interest in crimes and mysteries. She independently wealthy and owns and runs the B&B for something to fill her days. She knows that she should turn over all the evidence she finds to the new detective in town but he puts her back up and seems dismissive of what she has to tell him.

Also new in town is the flamboyant medical examiner Dr. Vicky Clem who is also interested in mysteries and seems like someone who could become a good friend. Vicky is willing to pass on some of the information she learns to Eva.

This is the first in a new cozy series which looks like it has potential. I liked Eva and the other characters in her book club which includes a couple of dog groomers, an eccentric artist, and a women-of-a-certain age.

There is a potential for a romance between Eva and the new detective if only Eva's contractor would get out of the way. He wants romance but Eva is only interested in him as a contractor.

lawyers, cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, inheritance, dogs, pets, law-enforcement, suspense, sisters, chiropractor, knitting, murder, murder-investigation, verbal-humor, situational-humor, novella*****

Fun! One sister is a lawyer and the other is a police detective. The lawyer inherited a narrow boat and more from an aunt. On her first day there she meets a lot of the (real) characters who live and work at the marina. And the body of one of them! It's a lot of fun with crazy dogs and crazier people, but the plot twists and red herrings top it all! Loved it!
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Fairfield Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you!

I enjoy reading series that allow me to stay with one main character and watch them grown throughout. A good series to read when snuggled up and staying warm during the winter months. There is some light humor and Margot has a French bakery that make it fun, light, interesting. The love story parts are wholesome and sweet. There are errors in the book with spelling, grammar and sentence structure, but still worth a read.
