Maj J. D. Coleman [1930-2005] worked with the 1st Cavalry Division's contributing authors to compile the original edition of Air Cav. Author of Pleiku, Incursion, and Wonju: The Gettysburg of the Korean War, MAJ Coleman served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 and from 1963 to 1979. He was an mostrar más Airbome Infantryman in the 187th Regimental Combat Team in the Korean War and PIO with the first Cavalry Division in Vietnam. Wonju: The Gettysburg of the Korean War por J. D. Coleman
I have read several books on the Battle at Chip’yong-ni and the battle of the Twin Tunnels and they never put an emphasis on the battle at Wonju. The U. S. Army artillery caught over 14000 Communist army soldiers marching on the road to Wonju. For over 4 hours our artillery pounded the communist troops, killing approximately 5000 putting an end to the Chinese attack on Wonju. The American troops called it the Wonju Shoot!
