Oops, finished this a while ago. Sort of interesting, but also kinda dry. I don't remember. Too much unexamined libertarian BS, but that's personal bias.

Surprising level of understanding of the anonymous culture (unheard of anywhere in media). It concentrates on the bigger players and loosely associated groups but still mentions the ideas they grew out from.

A lot of it however is painfully pretentious , "quoting DFW" levels of pretentious. The author is desperately trying to justify spending all her adult life on this so tries to elevate this beyond what it is and spin it into a political movement.

At one point she fears that she has gone native. Don't worry love, anyone calling Laurie Penny a journalist and quoting her unironically is perfectly safe from being seen as one.… (más)

A really interesting book full of chat logs that I found really great (as opposed to even entertaining prose, chat logs showed what it was like to be in their IRC).
