- Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre was born in the affluent Paris suburb of Neuilly, the eldest daughter of Comte Renaud de Clermont-Tonnerre and his wife Gilone Boulay de la Meurthe. She is descended in the maternal line from the Orléanist family, pretenders to the French throne. She attended the École normale supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, and began her career in the banking and finance industry, before giving it up for journalism. Formerly at Le Figaro, she's now the managing editor at the magazine Point de vue. Her first novel, Fourrure (Fur) was published in 2010, and received numerous prestigious awards, including being a finalist of the Prix Goncourt. In 2010-2011, she participated in the France 2 television show Semaine critique! She is a regular on the cultural show Avant-premières, also on France 2. In 2014, she made her first appearance on the show "Les pieds dans le plat" on Europe 1. From 2008, she has been a member of the jury of the annual Prix de la Closerie des Lilas for a novel by a woman. She is also a member of the jury of the Prix Françoise Sagan.
