Miriam Chaikin adds a family to Joshua's story in the Bible and changes a few things, but mostly it's a retelling, with some Midrashic and feminist explanations and additions, that keeps your interest and is a little less bloody than the original: being able to say smoting, rather than killing, helps. Don't Step on the Sky A Handful of Haiku, is a story told with the use of haiku poems. The poems tell the story of a little girls day from the night before, what she does all day, to the night time again. The haikus can be difficult to understand, but the illustrations help to tell the story. The young girl wakes, plays outside, goes to the beach, waits for the rain, and the next day sees all the growth the rain brought to the plants.
