I wanted to like this book, and indeed there were several bits that felt like they were hinting at some greater mythology. Unfortunately, that's most of what happened: hinting and not actual explaining. What's the backstory of the prophecy? What was the nature of the wars between the dragons and the humans? We never really find out.

Characterization felt a bit spotty, too. Probably the most egregious example is between Rosalind and Kit, who pretty much become best friends immediately with no real explanation. It felt artificial.

Shame, because I really love dragons. The part with the dragons was probably the strongest part of the book. I wish that had lasted longer.… (más)
