Very rarely am I this disappointed by a book. Disjointed, poorly organized and so "cookie cutter" as to be almost lackadaisical. Recommended only for the most die-hard historian of the Vichy and then caveat emptor is the rule of the day. Not recommended.

Yes, a problem. Comparing this 2010 Jon Sutherland book with some of these earlier books and websites it is obvious that great chunks have beet lifted. Whats worse is that it's word for word, and not credited. Dodgy or what?

This bogus book includes photos and appendices taken from other books and websites without permission, and infringing copyright.
It includes long eye witness accounts taken illegally from P Lund and H Ludlam "Trawlers Go To War" (1971). The authors have been repeatedly accused of illegal plagiarism since last year,
They have no genuine background in history or the armed services but simply rehash others' hard work at the rate of one book every 3-4 weeks. Do check other independent reviews for verification. If you are convinced drop a line of protest to Pen & Sword, their publisher.… (más)

"Churchill's Pirates": the Royal Naval Patrol Service in World War II.

A rather rambling text, and badly edited. On one page RNPS lost 2385 dead in the war, on the next they had 15,000 dead, and on another 2385 lost at sea (without known grave)!
Two long appendices (taking up 18% of the book!(!) were copied verbatim--one from a website, the other from a National Archive file. No correct attribution or thanks for both--they are of course copyright!

The book gives no clear or organised account of the development, or of the successive campaigns, of the RNPS but just dodges about reporting incidents from here and there.

Some of the text looks like it has been lifted from books by author authors with same title--like Lund and Ludlam, Featherbe and Hampshire. Can someone check on this?
