If you're like me you've spent a bit of time looking at the schematics of your car or cars over the years. I'd call myself at least proficient in deciphering those diagrams and being able to trace down basic circuits, find ground faults and the like. I taught myself many years ago how to use a probe and multi-meter but haven't had any formal training. Usually when I'm thinking about a project I google the various videos and online articles - the problem with those is they often are specific enough when it comes to what's going on. Sure there are details but there are so many ways you can do these types of tasks that you can get confused with what approach will work best for your application. Now to this book - it's really a project book that focuses on some specific tasks like: Adding a basic circuit; Adding performance lighting; Adding performance gauges; Adding electric fans; Changing out the alternator and relocating the battery to the trunk; and dealing with aftermarket wiring harnesses.

Each subject is very clearly delineated with steps from A-Z with many photographs and questions you might ask yourself regarding what path to take. I especially like just how clean the approach is at every stop - much better than some of the slop you find online and if you're as anal as me, much appreciated. As you might can tell by the topics, this volume is very performance-oriented which is right up my alley. I think this is the best electrical automotive book I've seen - I'll be looking out for others from Tony Candela.

I received this book to review but events in real life conspired to delay my review. I apologize.

This book is great for people with DIY skills and a bit of an enticement for those who have been a bit scared to try to fix anything electrical. What makes it wonderful are all the pictures and diagrams along with the text that is easy to follow. The author knows how to write instruction manuals and in all honesty that is harder to do than some people think.

For anyone looking to work on their automotive project this book is a must-have. While the author uses specific vehicles in the various chapters, the knowledge and experience shared can be applied to whatever you're working on. The amount of detail that is used, in everything from wiring schematics to installation photos, allow the reader to have confidence in doing the work themselves. Due to the impressive quality of this book, I ordered the 1st book on automotive electrical projects this author wrote.… (más)
