Author Stacy Campbell has touched on a subject that sorely needed to be addressed. The first line, “My children are a waste of tears and stretch marks!” instantly brought tears to my eyes. It brought back the memories of when I worked at a nursing home, and there would be some residents who never, ever got a visit from anyone, especially their children. Such a shame! Ms. Campbell pulled no punches in this book, and a very valuable lesson is learned here, to cherish your elders! I fell in love with Ms. Mattie, (she is feisty, just like my Gramma was). This book truly touched me in more ways than one. It made me cry, (in my mind, I wanted to go and save Ms. Mattie, and kick her ungrateful kids in the butt), but it also made me smile. Ms. Mattie is a spry and intelligent "young" lady, and definitely my heroine. I think this book should be mandatory reading for everyone with elder parent. Ms. Campbell does not disappoint the reader, and although it entertains, the book teaches as well. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!… (más)

Wouldn't Change a Thing shows us what can happen when you hide the truth...it always comes back to bite you in the butt. This book touches on a subject that is an often forbidden topic in the African American community...mental illness. It's often looked upon with shame, talked about in whispers, and ridiculed. The love that you feel from the characters is real, and I enjoy the way they jump from the page, trying to tell us their story. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone! It's well written, the story flows effortlessly, and overall warms your heart!… (más)

Maybe I should have read the first one, but I liked this one as well. Poor Aruba.
