This was a fascinating story and will resonate with any who have had that infatuated love 'found-and-never-obtained' experience - that is, *if* you can allow yourself to be brought back there.

There is much symbolism to be found in this read and it's one of those that you want to continue to ponder after you've closed it. I will definitely be reading it again at some point as I'm sure there was much that was missed the first go around.

This particular translation was very well done and the footnotes were helpful to have on more than one occasion. I waited to read the introduction until after I finished the book since it contained a few spoilers. The introduction is also helpful once the book has been completed as there are some interesting bits of information that you'll want to be able to revisit.

Overall, the plot is very quick though it seems at times to be a little sporadic. Some of the elements may be a bit over the top but at the same time, so much of that age group simply is that over the top. I don't fault the novel but did scratch my head at a couple places in the read.

Great story and a great adventure back into youth with an ending that is somewhat surprising yet somewhat expected and altogether frustrating. I was left wanting a bit more but that's part of the fun.
