Tempting Prudence (The Bride Train, #3)
Maybe this book deserves a higher rating, but I just cannot get into stories with Confederate soldiers as the protagonist. I say this as a born-and-bred Southerner, who loves her home and (a lot of) the culture I was raised with: the Civil War was over white people's belief that it was their god-given right to OWN another person. The institution of slavery was unforgivably disgusting and brutal. Sorry, I just cannot overlook that. Add to that my dislike of most frontier romance novels (glossing over another horror in our history, the subjugation and genocide of Native Americans), I probably should have known this book was not for me. But, I love me a plain, spinster heroine, so I gave it a shot. The story is short and sweet, and inspired me to whip up a chess pie for the fun of it, but I think I need to hold off on this genre. Piacevole passatempo per quei momenti in cui ti metti a letto, tiri su le coperte e lasci il mondo fuori dalla porta per un po'. Storie sentimentali leggere che non scadono mai nel volgare.
I really enjoyed this clean historical romance. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. It had some romance, and a little action and a young boy to stir things up a bit. Add a dash of a big puppy to the mix and you have a real page turner. I will be reading more of this author's books.
All of these stories were really good. There were some that stuck with me more than others. My favorite was the Ciara Knight story. The entire book was very well-written and will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. There wasn’t a “bad” story in this entire set. Sit back, grab a cup of joe, and enjoy the horseback ride of endless adventure.
