Biografía breve
Michael Bunker is a USA Today Bestselling author, off-gridder, husband, and father of four children. He lives with his family in a "plain" community in Central Texas, where he reads and writes books...and occasionally tilts at windmills.

Michael is widely considered the "father" of the Amish/Scifi genre, and he is the author of several popular and acclaimed works of dystopian sci-fi. [adapted from Amazon.com author page, retrieved 2/9/2015]

I really, really enjoyed these stories. Each one was so different and there were so many really cool takes on the concept of time travel.

Like most anthologies this was a mixture of good and bad. I particularly enjoyed Corrections by Susan Kaye Quinn (an author I was interested in reading) and loved The First Cut by Edward W. Robertson. That's not to say there are not any other notable stories, a few are very thought provoking and moving, but these two were the highlights for me personally.

A silo book like no other

This book was definitely a change of pace for the "silo". It really dove deep into what truly matters, freedom. What better form of freedom living in the silo than literary expression.

This was the first book by this author that I had read, but it won't be my last. Based on the title you aren't expecting a "warm and fuzzy" ending. The opening is dark and somber which further reinforces your gut-feeling. I found the book to be a page-turner even suspecting that there would be a dark ending. The author did a great job of weaving optimistic, peaceful passages in with the more action oriented story. This technique helped hold my interest and added to the edge-of-your-seat feel. While the author draws on the classic Frankenstein idea the relationship between Dr. and Monster is very different. The inclusion of the Amish community, as a significant story element, helped give the book some of the "feel" of the classic book and not just a hi-tech, sci-fi book. I was unaware that Bunker has used the Amish/Sci-Fi blend before until I read this after I finished the book.… (más)
