I loved this story. It was beautiful and full of meaning. I would love to read more of Cathy Bryant's books.

Synopsis:
Dani Davis just wants a place to call home. With quirky residents, quaint country charm, and loads of business potential, Miller's Creek, Texas seems like the perfect place to start over...except for the cowboy who gives her a ride into town. Dani secretly finances renovations to downtown Miller’s Creek, but malicious rumors force her to choose between keeping her involvement a secret and the home for which she’s always longed. Then a devastating discovery propels her down a road she never expected to travel.

Steve Miller is determined to rescue his dying hometown. When vandals jeopardize the renovation, he can’t help but suspect Dani, whose strange behavior has become fodder for local gossips. Can Steve and Dani call a truce for a higher cause, and in the process help Dani recognize the true meaning of home?

I have read several books written by this author and they are all winners. This author writes her books as a ministry. Her writing is purposeful and heart touching. Her characters not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Faith in God is an integral part of their lives. Even when the characters are fumbling and faltering in their relationship and walk in Christ, they are still in earnest about getting right with God.

Pieces on Earth is a beautiful novella about a Mom and daughter's struggle to make sense of their lives when their husband and father does not come home after being deployed in Afghanistan. They feel broken in pieces and try hard to carry on, especially since Liv is expecting a baby. To help her 4-year-old daughter, Liv begins to tell her the gospel story from the beginning of the Bible in such a way that the child can understand. Each night the discussion between them helps not only little Chesney see the big picture, but helps Liv gain some fresh perspectives herself.

Other losses are experienced in the group of Navy wives and they reach out to help each other. Then Liv's risky pregnancy takes a turn for the worse and the doctor has placed her on bed rest for the remainder of the term. Liv couldn't believe that her life could reach any lower point than this. She felt she was drying up like a desert.

I loved this story. For a novella, it is well plotted out, has great points to make, and carries a great message. The simple plot helps the reader contemplate our lives and what our purpose is. The book focuses on character development over action and aims its message toward our hearts rather than offers only entertainment.

Still I Will Follow by Cathy Bryant
Have read other works by this author in the Miller Creek series so know I am going to enjoy this one.
Bella has returned to Miller's Creek as a teacher, music for elementary school. Others shun her because of her past, they think she is still bad news. She's broken her tail bone. She also prays that the rumors from the past wills tay away from the kids she's teaching...
Story also follows Clay who is a farmer and had dated Bella and wondered about her life now...
Like hearing how he manages the ranch and even hiring others-he knows what questions to ask. Love hearing how the disabled children are able to come to the ranch and how they respect the rules of riding.
Love that I know some of the characters from previous books read.
Like alternating chapters, Clay and his ranch and environment disasters, and Bella her struggles to prove herself and dealing with the kids.
Like that they get together to discuss their problems with one another...
So much action takes over involving drugs, accusations about God and how the townsfolk stick up and believe.
Misunderstandings are talked out and we learn more about the family. Lots of surprises along the way.
Author bio included. Other works are highlighted at the end. Book club discussion questions at the end.
Excerpt from Crossroads is included. Love how we've met the character highlighted in the next book so we kinda know them a bit already before they get a book/story of their own to tell.
Received this as a free gift and this is my honest review.

A Path Less Traveled by Cathy Bryant
Have read the prior books in this series so I am familiar with the characters but it can be read as a stand alone as you are brought up to date.
Starts out with Trish and her son and she's helping with her brother Steve, the mayor's wedding to Dani. Dani's friend Adam has returned as they were friends from college and he helped set up the money to revitalize the town, using her inherited money.
Like how the previous one is similar to this where things just go so wrong, all the time. Nobody can catch a break.
Like the last book anything that can go wrong will and then more... events occur that keep her in town and Adam wants to relocate.
Problems at school with Beau has her burning the candle at both ends...
Lots of quotes from the Bible and scriptures that fit into the real life tragedies that keep occuring to help them get over the turmoil.
Predictable but with many twists and turns.
Discussion questions included.
