Rollo Walter Brown

I ran across this very interesting book just by good luck. It is available as a free e-book at

Brown, a Harvard professor travels a lot in the US during the late 1930's to give talks at many small colleges around the country. In his travels on the train and in small towns he visits, he meets many different types of people, from the very poor to the very wealthy capitalists who have no understanding nor concern for the less fortunate during the depression.

I was struck by the commonality of what we are experiencing today, in that for the most part, the wealthy in our country have little concern for the poor and disenfranchised.

This book could easily have been written in the 21st century, with planes substituted for trains.
