Molly finds Daddy and Mommy and Tim and Sue in the kitchen. They are making a special dinner because Grandma is coming. Can Molly help?

Molly can open the pea pods, but when she tried to squeeze the lemon, it squirted instead. So Molly helped Daddy make the cookies. Then she set the table all by herself.

Will Grandma like her special dinner?

=========

In this Playskool board book, Molly helps with fixing dinner, just as young readers have likely done in their own homes. They see familiar activities, familiar people in a relatable story.

The unfolding story focuses on the growing child helping their family with specific activities that represent the responsibilities within the family. Colorful illustrations and a situation young children will readily recognize make this a perfect book for sharing with a grown-up.

Recommended.

I give this book 3 stars, I think it deserves three stars because the information was helpful, however, it did not do a great job of flowing as the book went on. I found the information to be rather "choppy". The book would be helpful for students who are having a hard time learning their left and right hands, for example it talks about the "l" share you can do on your left hand in order to differentiate between your left and right hand. I enjoyed that they mentioned that some of your friends or yourself could be left handed! I thought it was clever that the book was actually in the shape of a hand. The book had great illustrations and encouraged readers to be active and participate in lifting your left and right hand up.… (más)

This abridged edition doesn't leave much out (I think only that meeting with the Lord of the Hills or Herne the Hunter or whoever he was when they were looking for Otter's kid), making it more like an illustrated synopsis. Which is okay given that the real Wind in the Willows is a moderately wonderful childhood experience and picture synopsis version can prepare small kids to love the characters when they encounter them in the real thing.
