Not enough maps. Didn't need fullpage portraits of generals. Could've used more info on the campaign itself than what led up to it. But the only book I know of that treats this, and an important addition to my reference library.

Collection of short essays about different things, mostly unknown, that happened during the Revolutinary War. Includes a woman who rode to warn colonists about British (in NC), information about sharp shooters, the cannons from Ticonderoga and so on.
Author teaches history in a community college in Tennessee

Warning klaxons started going off when I was treated to a few pages of general introduction to the civil war (surely someone who's reading up on a most obscure campaign would know this?). He follows with some interesting, if irrelevant background on slavery and unionism in Tennessee.
The write-up of the campaign itself is ok, but the maps are woeful; they don't even cover what he talks about in the text. All in all, a book you should probably read only if you must.
