The singing class pages 4- 32. Shawm is the name of a reed instrument that predated the modern oboe. Contains seem colonial tunes, some of which have been notated on two staffs with soprano on top. Some Colonial tunes . Many by the authors.

The New Singing School instruction is on pages 3- 56. Anthems are on 2 and 4 staffs with round notes. Pages 57 to 332 contains the same anthems as 1957 edition. Instead of Esther the beautiful Queen Cantata this ediition has page 333-380 additional anthems and closings. Alphabetical and metrical index to tunes. and an Anthem , choirs and openings index are complete. One copy has a stamp in front cover: " SINGING SCHOOL. Admit the bearer. George F. Wiley.

This edition. "the New Singing Class Instruction " occupies pages 3-56. Music begins on page 57. Four and 2 staff round notes. Index is missing but paging through I find a few colonial tunes, which seem to be written 4 part on two staffs. (Dundee, Windsor, uxbridge). Esther begins on page 330. and goes to 371. 371-374 have addition tunes and index. /see also the 1958 edition from which the Esther cantata was removed and other music added.
