Appears to be a good and convincing summary of the revisionist case. But this is one of those areas in which one finds oneself agreeing with everyone. And just for the historiography of Irish history it is valuable by itself.

This is a detailed examination of the phenomenon of nationalism as it has appeared in Ireland.

The book is well researched, if, perhaps, a little dated now and has probably been superseded by [a:Richard English's|339021|Richard English|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/m_50x66-82093808bca726cb3249a493fbd3bd0f.png] excellent [b:Irish Freedom: A History of Nationalism in Ireland|3058338|Irish Freedom A History of Nationalism in Ireland|Richard English|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358744934s/3058338.jpg|3089240]. Even so, the book still repays reading, and much of the current trend of questioning the myths of Irish nationalism can be seen in embryonic form here.… (más)
