A Promise of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles, #1) por Amanda Bouchet

Slow to start but it gripped me after the initial faltering and I couldn't put it down. It's been sitting on my TBR pile longer than it should have, since several of my favorite authors blurbed for it. The worldbuilding is great and the main character witty, relatable, and fun. More romance with fantasy and the related tropes than fantasy but still an entertaining read. Another book I borrowed from the library and then immediately purchased for rereading. On to the second book in the series.

Breath of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles, #2) por Amanda Bouchet

As good as the first book, if not better in some ways! A quick, engrossing read; I can't wait for the next book. I love that secondary characters get page time and development. One thing that kind of bugged me was that it's a little startling with the scene changes as the characters never travel anywhere, they're just immediately at their destination. I get it and kind of enjoyed it but I found this a major departure from the first book where about half the story was the journey. While this does remove the slower, more boring content it is somewhat jarring and could potentially be confusing to the reader.… (más)

It wasn't particularly well written, and the main character was annoyingly immature, but I still enjoyed reading this.

Heart on Fire por Amanda Bouchet

While I’m hugging my Toothless plushie and going into denial that the final book in series is now finished. I’m sorta lost with what I should do with myself now.

I don’t want to leave these characters behind.

I’m off to do a reread from book one.
