A big collection of six different Winnie the Pooh workbooks, each one telling a complete story and loaded with activities that will challenge and entertain your pre-schooler. The stories are actually good, and it is obvious from all the crayon markings and cut up pages that my nearly three-year-old daughter was enthusiastic about doing all the mazes, tracing, and pattern continuations.

FOR REFERENCE:

Contents: Pooh's Day to Play -- The Day Tigger Lost His Bounce -- The Treasure in the Hundred-Acre Wood -- Helping in Rabbit's Garden -- The Rumbly in Pooh's Tummy -- Something Special for Christopher Robin

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

Since the early 1600s, the rocky coasts, dark woods, lonely farms, and forbidding winters of New England have spawned many a macabre tale that has become part of Yankee lore. This book relates traditional, New England tales of ghosts, witches, and pirates, along with mysterious shipwrecks, haunted mansions, and buried treasure. Many of the tales exist in several versions, from which the author has selected a representative ones. The tales are well- illustrated with grey- scale photographs, taken in some cases of locations where the events are said to have taken place.

A wide range of mysterious events were once attributed to witchcraft and evil spirits: unseasonal hailstorms, crop failures, shoes that wouldn't buckle, hens that wouldn't lay eggs, and pigs that devoured their young. Others include disappearing corpses, ghost ships, and ghostly maidens awaiting the return of lost sailors. In our semi-rational age, we no longer attribute these events to local witches, and the supernatural is confined to the occasional, alcohol- fueled glimpse of a wraith in an abandoned house. This book may be of interest to readers seeking to explore the legends and tales of traditional New England and to marvel at the credulity of our ancestors of previous centuries.
