This book was one of my absolute favorite books as a kid, which I can tell because my version of the book is falling apart because I read it so much! I loved this book for two reasons. Firstly, the plot of this book is very relatable to children and even adults and can be used to help children through emotional issues. In this book, Bunny sees all of her friends doing different activities, like swimming, biking and spelling bees. She feels inadequate and wonders why she isn’t good at anything like the rest of her friends are, so she tries out for choir and water skiing. Bunny fails at these things and feels very down on herself, but with the help of her family, she figures out that she has a passion for ballet. Many children can relate to the same emotions that Bunny felt of not being good at anything or not having any special talents, which is what makes this such a valuable children’s book. I would use this book as a tool to teach students in my future classroom or to even help my own children come to terms with emotions. The second reason I enjoyed this book is due to the simple and engaging illustrations. Each illustration takes up one page and doesn’t have too many distracting details, so the reader can use the illustrations to help decode the text. They are vital to the book and accurately depict the text. For example, one page discusses how Bunny felt sad because she wasn’t good at anything, and the illustration depicted Bunny with a single tear rolling down her cheek in front of her house in the forest. It was simple to comprehend and easily showed the reader the emotion she was feeling. The big idea of this text is that everyone is unique and each person has their own special talent which makes them who they are.… (más)
