Charlotte isn't looking forward to the trip to see her grandmother for Thanksgiving. She's feeling jealous and just out of sorts. Her younger sister, Jenny, is getting all the attention after winning a piano competition. All Jenny can talk about is the upcoming trip to Orlando and Disney World to compete again. Charlotte just feels like everyone loves her little sister more than her, and that she has no talents that anybody would care about. And now they have to travel to see their grandmother at Aunt Dolly's house. Aunt Dolly, her grandmother's sister, just passed away and their grandmother needs help clearing out the house. Charlotte just feels mad about everything. Then she sees a ghost...a spirit beckoning to her asking for her help. The spirit takes her back to her grandmother's childhood so she can see the rivalry and loss that those siblings experienced decades before.

This is a very enjoyable middle grade suspense story. There is nothing inappropriate for kids, and the plot isn't too scary. It's a very enjoyable ghost story, and a tale of sisters from the present and the past. Very enjoyable book! And the cover art is perfect!

I like this sort of sweet ghost story. This was a nice afternoon read! Lynn Blankman also wrote another similar story, Ghost Beyond the Garden. I'm now hunting for a copy so I can read it too!… (más)
