Biografía breve
Eleanor Bertine graduated summa cum laude from Vassar College and then from Cornell Medical College. She began her medical career as a general practitioner in 1913 and had many professional women among her patients. At the end of World War I, she was appointed the director of a radical sex education program at women's colleges in 40 states. She and her medical school classmate Kristine Mann were among the lecturers. She read the works of Carl Jung translated by Beatrice Hinkle and determined to study with him. In 1920, she went to London for analysis with Constance Long, and then to Zurich for analysis with Jung. On returning to New York City a couple of years later, she and Dr. Mann established their own pioneering psychoanalytic practices. With Dr. Mann and M. Esther Harding, she co-founded the Analytical Psychology Club. She and Dr. Harding, close friends and colleagues for 40 years, went on to create the Jung Foundation and Training Institute in in New York. Each year, the three women traveled to Zurich for two months of analysis and spent summers studying and working at Bailey Island, Maine, Dr. Mann's family home. Dr. Bertine published two books, Human Relationships and Jung's Contributions to Our Time, a collection of essays.
