Having read both this book and Berg's earlier volume on history prior to 1945, I like this book best. I think this book was very thorough in covering shortwave listening since WW2. I also think the author did a good job telling the history from the perspective of the listener as he had intended to do.

Most of the book is about the people, the clubs and the way the hobby of listening was done during those decades. There is a section on receivers. However there is nothing on antennas which are a big part of shortwave listening. I don't believe the antennas changed as much as the receovers so the lack of coverage of those during the post WW2 years is not much of an omission.

I thought the section on how computers are utilized and how that function has evolved especially good.

An interesting account of the birth and development of shortwave radio broadcasting from the early 1920s to the end of World War II.
