There were parts that I rather enjoyed but overall, the whole thing seemed a bit thin. The characters were cartoonish, the plot barely developed, and the tone terribly uneven. It wasn't painfully bad, though, just tedious and uninteresting.

Military steampunk adventure with more military than in many similar novels. Female characters without romances. Lead character is strong woman with realistic flaws.

I'm not sure that I have much more to add to the other reviews of continuing adventures of Josette Dupre and her crew except to say that I like this novel and it'll be interesting to see how far Bennis can take this story.

This was a fun adventure story and I really enjoyed the main characters. There was more air battles than I was expecting, but they were written well, and not too hard to follow. Overall, an enjoyable read that establishes a unique world and likeable characters.
