vintagebeckie | Aug 25, 2021 | The saying goes, when people make plans, God laughs or at least thwarts those plans for His own good. Schoolgirl crushes, ex-boyfriends and more fill the pages of this book. As an audiobook, this story shines. It provides the perfect summer story. Perhaps because we have three sons followed by a daughter, this story resonated with me. Some of Callie’s antics and experiences I could relate to through experiences in my own life.
Sometimes when we get out of God’s way and submit to His will we receive the desires of our heart. Also, we often have to learn the hard way that what we think we want or what God wants for us cannot live up to our expectations. When we are still and quiet with no distractions around, we actually communicate with God and hear His voice and see His plans clearly. So if you are looking for a great summer book to listen to, check out this audiobook for yourself.

PattiP1992 | 4 reseñas más. | Aug 18, 2021 | What a fun read! Perhaps because I have three sons and a mother-in-law who wants to see them all married, I appreciated the grandmother most in this book. Families often cannot live up to our expectations and our desires, but we have to move past that. This book illustrates that fact.
I felt the author did an excellent job of bringing this story to life. A part of the Practically Married group of books, readers come to know the characters. I enjoy books where worlds jump to life across unique books. This book provides the perfect afternoon read. The relationship between Ashely and her husband’s ex-girlfriend Jessica illustrates how life takes twists and turns. Sometimes, the people we befriend surprise us as well. So check out this book for yourself.

PattiPeanut1992 | 2 reseñas más. | May 20, 2021 | Jess Miller is back in her small hometown and carrying the weight of her and her family’s past transgressions on her shoulders.
Avoiding Marriage by Karen Beery is sweet novella with moments of healing, moments of humor, and moments of just plain awkwardness (with Jess going to work for her ex, who is now married, how can things not be awkward once in a while?).
One of the things I appreciated in Beery’s story is how open Ashley (the ex’s now wife) lays everything on the table with Jess and the two form the beginnings of a friendship. Another is Carter—the man is intelligent but doesn’t flaunt it and he’s an excellent listener.
And while I would have liked some further resolution with Jess’s mom, this thread was true to life—sometimes life’s challenges aren’t wrapped in a big resolution bow.
This was a quick read that gives readers who have read Practically Married a chance to revisit the Russell family while also introducing others an introduction to Boyne Heights.
Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.… (más)
