Nothing cutesy this time.

I...just...sigh.

Okay so normally I'd prolly push this to a 3, because there's some nice moments and they're finally undertaking to clear up loose ends.

But this was 8 issues that felt like a hundred. Not in a good way. Each reality got, more or less, two issues giving us 4ish realities. Marvel 2099, Supereme Squadron, Future Imperfect and back I guess what we can call Marvel Prime Universe (since its essentially where the comics main canon takes place).

I enjoyed none of it practically. Maybe because unlike some of the other worlds/events they jumped to I had a baseline or more understanding of the purpose for them needing to make changes. Here I got zilch.

Also for some gods awful reason they thought it would be...cute....?...if Mimic's murderer, Proteus, constantly referred to Blink as his because he can't shake Mimic's memories?

Like...why? He's never before shown such issues and we're on the second volume of dealing with him. Its disturbing and not in a great way.

The solution to Proteus maybe would have been fine except you KNOW it will go wrong and at this point what does it matter?

What kept this from being a 1-star was the fact the last many pages are spent watching the former Exiles and Weapon X folks being sent home (either dead, alive & willing or alive & resentful) and see who was (and wasn't) mourned.… (más)

Bloooooonnnkkkk So straight up, this was more of a 3.5 for me. Why? HYPERION. They gods damned brought back Hyperion which resulted in 4 issues of utter idiocy.

Let me get to it - so Timebroker was actually a fabric of their imaginations. Kinda. He was a hologram basically sent to make it easier for them to listen.

Hyperion, yes the one that was terrible and bald, found this out and took control (as you do when you're a psychotic megalomaniac).

So our Exiles had to stop him.

What really crossed my eyes was THAT was how they explained the Timebroker going evil? THAT WAS THEIR TWIST.

Surprisingly there's a couple genuinely moving moments later on, after he's dealt with.

Oh and for some inexplicable reason they had Jennifer flirting with Stephen Strange.

Interestingly they decided to unfreeze Deadpool so he could be the antagonist generating drama for a bit. I can't see Ryan Reynolds acting that way though so gonna ignore it.… (más)

Helllllooooo Clarice...and welcome back friends on this nightmare cruise I can't quit.

The top half of the volume was directly connected to the event "House of M", just like happening nowhere near any character directly CONNECTED to that event. Give them credit, they laid out the Exiles reasonably having to come to that earth (616) far enough in advanced that I'm sure at the time it didn't feel out of place.

That said...it left a sour taste in my mouth as part of why that world is pretty okay is that Nocturne is there somewhere, but she's actually kind of a part of the main event (her mom being Scarlet Witch) so I guess it wouldn't have made sense to have her show up here (as she wouldn't remember the Exiles and honestly they had a lot to deal with).

It ends happily for one character though!

However Calvin gets himself ONCE AGAIN made into a ticking timebomb for his friends. I swear to the stars this guy is the worst somehow, utterly and constantly. I'm with Sabertooth on that.

The second half of the volume is them dealing with the fall out of Calvin-the-Evil-Douche-Murderer.

Which then bleeds into the next volume (13) and boy do I hope this is over soon I'm tired of it.… (más)

Bzzzzzzt time to wake up folks - its another volume of Exiles!

First, I'm soooo tired of Marvel's "First Family" the Fantastic Four. They remain my LEAST favorite superhero team and in no reality so far have they proven interesting.

Second, the first reality is literally the Earth gaining sentience which after seeing The Eternals and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, is less interesting then you'd think. It was kinda dumb? And why do y'all keep trusting Doom? Like he's 0 for 12 here as helpful.

The one-issue story immediately after was fun - buy the Danish, save the World. It was definitely a more light hearted tale.

Which brings us to the final storyarc that was D&D in meth before becoming Mr. Hyde Goes to Washington. I don't know WHY they decided to retcon Heather's origin as Sasquatch the way they did. It was...meh. Boring. Sure gamma rays turned me monstrous is pretty ordinary for the Marvel Universe, but so was what they went with.

This is becoming a case of diminishing returns. The further we go into this series (I'm more then half done now) the less I'm enjoying.

Maybe volume 10 will be better? :sigh:… (más)
