There are some unexplained murders in Boston. Detective Mike Sams has no suspects, no forensic evidence and no leads. There have been similar murders in Rome where Inspector Rosa is hard at work trying to find a murderer for those crimes. They are collaborating to try to come up with any leads that might help on either side of the globe.

Meanwhile the Catholic church has its own investigation going on in New York. There have been scrolls found in Tivoli, Italy. Ancient scrolls written in several different languages all in one document. It is with a sense of doom and urgency that Father Daniels, an expert in ancient writings and Dr. Cary Blake, also an expert in ancient writings try to decipher the scroll - only to find that a second scroll exists and needs to be found.

Father Peasley is a Jesuit brother who studied the occult and all that entails because in his words “it is best to know your enemy.”

When all leads come to a dead end, Mike and his team decide to look into the occult as a possibility. This is a case where they have to “look outside the box”. He consults with Brother Peasley.

Once the description of the murders is known on both sides of the globe the reader knows which direction the storyline will take. There’s really no surprises there but Jerry Bayne has put together a great cast of characters that have personalities of their own. As the pages turn he shows a great talent for building the intensity to an explosive climax and the ending is not disappointing.

This novel just blew me out of the water. I did not expect such a page-turner in this genre from an unknown author. I did not want to put it down once I had started. Bradley Cardiff could teach Mitch Rapp a few tricks of the CIA trade. After losing his entire family due to a car bomb that was intended for him, he goes on a revenge mission without revealing it was not him in the car. Three men are his targets: Senator Paul Franklin, ex CIA Director, William Carson, Franklin's right-hand man, and President James Harding.
The main Boston police investigator assigned to the first hit, Senator Franklin is Mike Samms. He is a very thorough detective and is not concerned about the political ramifications around the case and gets himself suspended. When Carson is hit and the President is next, Samms is called in by the White House to assist the CIA and Secret Service in catching Cardiff and protecting the President.
It is told both from Bradley Cardiff's perspective and Mike Samms. Not a lot of twists and turns, just Cardiff detailing the steps he is taking to stalk and kill the President and Samms on the steps to catch him.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish and thought the ending was probably the only one possible, although I would have like to have seen Bradley Cardiff rehabilitated. It then would have been possible for a series on Bradley Cardiff. The ending did leave an opening for a Mike Samms series. Great read, and I highly recommend it.

This novel was my first political thriller and I was totally engrossed and captivated by it. It is very well written and the entire time I was reading it, I did not want to put it down. The main character is Bradley Cardiff who was a former CIA who was very good at his job. His entire family is killed in a car bomb and it is presumed that he was killed in the blast as well. He has a plan of action to seek revenge against the people who ordered the hit and the one who actually did it.
The book is set up in the flashback format, starting with the assassination of a Senator Paul Franklin. The right hand man for the senator is William Carson and he is quickly interrogated by the authorities. The two investigators assigned to this case are excellent supporting characters and make a harmonious team. This book has the perfect balance with the characters and the people around them. Mike Sams is one of the police investigators and is a very likable character. This is a great cat and mouse game and you literally are one the edge of your seat.
The events leading up to the assassination of President Harding is the most suspenseful of the entire novel. All of Cardiff’s surveillance on where the President is at the plant is very exciting. The author really does his homework on all the high-tech devices that Cardiff uses. Not to mention the mafia ties at the beginning of the novel.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish and was quite happy with the ending. It is a very quick read and I think a lot of people would enjoy this, male and female and young and old alike. This was a very quick read and I highly recommend it. I would love to see this book turned into a movie.

Kill Me Twice is an absolutely superb political thriller. Start to finish this book was exciting and suspenseful. I don’t like to give too much information about the plot, especially when the book is as intense as this one, so my plot description is simple. When three government officials cause lead character Bradley Cardiff’s life to fall apart, his only goal is revenge.

The characters, their relationships, and friendships are well-developed and interesting. Cardiff’s character is one of a focused, highly qualified CIA agent who uses his skills to seek vengeance, but he was also a man who loved his family. One of the police characters, Mike Sams, also stands out as an interesting and likeable character. The crooked political figures, unfortunately, are probably not too far off from real life with their dirty deals and corruption.

This book is an outstanding, fast-paced tale of political intrigue. Some language and violence in the book, but dare I say well deserved? I was engrossed through the entire book and found the ending very satisfying. I confess that when I read a book I like, I always find a character that I would like to see continue into the author’s next book. It’s just me. Mike Sams was the character in this book, and I would like to see his story continue from the last page of this book to another.

I can’t wait to order a copy of the author’s previous book, The Gatherer.
