Caine is the main narrator, but this brisk look at London during the 1960s when the young finally asserted themselves and changed British society forever, features on-screen and voiceover appearances by a huge number of iconic persons of that era, all backed (and sometimes almost drowned out) by a sort of greatest British hits of the 60s soundtrack that would definitely be worth a re-listen. There is no overarching authorial narrative here, just how the period was seen by a host of its participants, including some, like John Lennon, who were long gone by the time this was made. As such, it has a number of perspectives, particularly about drugs. Caine relates his own experience with marijuana for instance, and it is a gem. Some of the personalities stand out for their honesty, particularly Marianne Faithfull, speaking with Caine rather than in a long-ago clip, who fesses up to some naughty behavior at a drug bust and whose experience with the extreme activities of the period definitely went further than Caine!
