This is a really good, comprehensive introduction to the life and theology of John Owen. I highly recommend it.

It was fine! A good book! I agreed with it! However, one does wonder... just how much can we expound on such a mystery as the Trinity is without delving into heresy on either side.

I want to thank Net Galley for the ability to review this book. I received this book for free for review, but it did not influence my review in any way.

This book is not for everyone. I would increase that to this book was not geared toward me. This book, ultimately, is a dissertation type book on the idea of predestination vs non predestination when it comes to the salvation of God through grace. The author argues that it cannot be anything other than the predestination idea and seeks to prove it throughout the book.

When I read a book on grace, I want to read about love and salvation by God. This was so stiff and scholarly that it was just a turn off for me. It isn't that I cannot read a scholarly paper, but to turn grace into a concept is seriously off putting. It also wasn't a great read to me.

This is a book for a niche audience.

It was also strange that there were so many praises for the book before the book started. It just sends a warning sign to me that the book isn't that great.

An excellent summary of the issue is Biblical authority. The first 150 pages are worth the price of the book. This is a critical issue for the church today. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the issue of Sola Scriptura.
