Monsters in Trucks (Monsters Everywhere, 1) por Laura Baker
This is a quick fun rhyming read that would be great for story time. Overall, there is nothing new or spectacular and while the illustrations are different, they were also very reminiscent of Tom Parr. All together works for a book that would be read over and over and over again.
I was excited to read this book, the illustrations were beautiful, but two pages in you realize quickly that the words don't flow. There's nothing more frustrating when reading a children's book that has the appearance and cadence of rhyme, but doesn't rhyme well. It can ruin the story, and it ruined this one. Proper movement is very important in a children's book because you read them aloud. As a parent that reads a lot of books, there are a handful of books that "disappear" from our library because I hate constantly tripping over words that don't quite work or were forced to fit. When writing children't literature, you either rhyme, or you don't, there is no in between that lends well to any story.… (más)
This book would be more appropriate for my younger students. This book is filled with clear, colorful, and engaging explanations of our natural world. The book allows the reader to explore the human body, animals/plants, ecology, and biodiversity. It's a great book for any science classroom, it's very engaging and informative.
