Bac's designs in The Art of Stone Painting are bright, colourful, and eye-catching. However, they are also very detailed and elaborate - even many of the "simple" designs - and Bac's instructions are, in most cases, fairly minimal. She also does not say what size of rocks to use, and I can't tell from most of the photos whether these are simple pebbles or something a bit larger.

I would not consider this a book for the complete beginner; I would suggest that you should have previous experience either painting on rocks or drawing similar sorts of designs (mandalas, etc.) before tackling most of the projects in this book. You will also need a steady hand and a good eye for detail! Frankly, many of these designs are a bit beyond my skill level (and my limited set of supplies), so for me, this is more of an inspiration book rather than a practical instruction manual.… (más)

This gorgeous book starts out showing the reader what tools they will need, techniques to use, how to collect the right rocks and prep them, and it even has templates of art used in book in the back! It is filled with different styles of art work and how to put it on your rock. Lots and lots of photos! Great for beginners or intermediate artists!… (más)

Stone Painting for Kids is part 'how to paint stones' and part 'what to do with the stones after you have painted them'. The instructive steps on how to achieve different adorable designs are accompanied by detailed photographs, and provide a solid base of tools to use when painting other designs. The games and learning activities that you can do with the stones ensure that the stones will be used for more than decoration (decoration is a fine use, to be sure!).

After finishing this book, the reader will
- know exactly how to paint butterflies, animals, faces, houses, flowers and more,
- have the skills needed to paint any designs on stones,
- know a number of games and learning activities with which to use the stones.

Very cute, approachable, and definitely for all ages. Highly Recommended.

I was blown away by the beautiful rocks pictured in this book! They are gorgeous! Step by step instructions, all with photographs, make these designs seem achievable for even the least artistic individuals! (Talking about myself here...)

Painting categories are mandala, patterns (hearts, flowers, etc), animals and nature (leaves, trees, etc). The more intricate ones seem like that would really require a lot of time and focus. The simpler designs are also very impressive.

Recently, there have been a lot of painted rocks showing up outside the library. They are so cheerful and they just make me happy.

This would be a wonderful addition to any library, and a great gift for artists (and crafters!) of all ages and skill levels.
