Built at a time when a tub hanging from a pole guided mariners to Busselton, the jetty became a busy port of call for trading ships. Fires, cyclones, even the Government couldn't destroy it, and the restored jetty is now a major tourist attraction.

I was told the story of O'Connor on the way back from Freo after a night in a Turkish restaurant. I bought this in Cheltenham's Oxfam shop to see if I have remembered the truth. Freo can be hectic on a Friday night.
