This book made me laugh. I love how brave these girls were until they got to the lion and ran all the way home to decide they were going to try again the next day. It reminds me of my family and i pushing each other to see how far we can go without getting scared.

In this beautifully illustrated rendition of a well-known children's chant, two sisters are looking not for a bear, but for a lion, a lion that lives on the African savanna

I liked this book for many reasons. First, the plot is very organized and there is suspense in the story. Organized in the what the story is about and the writing is very detailed of what the characters are watching and going through. There was suspense because the two girls always come upon an obstacle in order to get to the lion, so then at the end you see what they eventually do in order to see the lion. Also, once they get to the lion, you feel scared because they’re so close to him that you don’t know if the lion will wake up from his nap or will start chasing them. I also loved the illustrations because the colors were bright and brought the story more to life. I loved how in the beginning the author is telling the story which he illustrates by showing the two girls going through their adventure to find a lion and then when they do find the lion they go back through the same places, but you see them on one page and on the other page you see the lion going through the same way the two girls are going. I thought that was pretty cool because it’s not just showing the girls going back home and then the end. Overall, the book feels like a song or poem more which makes it so good because there is a phrase which is repeated throughout the whole story, but then the sound that the place the two girls are in is at the end. So, it makes it seems like your actually there. I would definitely read this book to my future students if I was doing a lesson on either poems or repetition. But I would also read it for fun because it has suspense, but that kid friendly suspense which I love the most.… (más)

Not quite as good as [b:We're Going on a Bear Hunt|201126|We're Going on a Bear Hunt|Michael Rosen|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1172635267s/201126.jpg|1974395], by [a:Michael Rosen|2059918|Michael Rosen|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1272914640p2/2059918.jpg], I think. We played along with the Rosen book lots and lots of times when my first two were little. This would be a good companion for fans of the game, though. I found it interesting that in this version the two girls were by themselves, as opposed to the Dad and all the kids in Rosen's version. I also appreciated the illustrations of the other, [a:Helen Oxenbury|72144|Helen Oxenbury|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1272914572p2/72144.jpg] more - but that's a personal opinion.… (más)
